Goat or Sheep?

If we are all "his children" then who are the "children of the devil" he refers to? All through the scriptures we are told we must “qualify” to be his called his children and that we "chose" who our Father will be by our actions. So, my reading of the scriptures defines the children of God differently than yours.

I had a friend from India, a Hindu, who told me once that they had a god for everything, whereas Christians try to make God human rather than make themselves divine. That profound thought has sent me on a quest for many years to discover the difference between God's level of thinking and mine. In effect we have "created" God in our image instead of taking upon us his imprint. Joseph Smith taught “Let us here observe, that three things are necessary, in order that any rational and intelligent being may exercise faith in God unto life and salvation. First, the idea that he exists. Secondly, a correct idea of his character, perfections, and attributes. Thirdly, an actual knowledge that the course of life which he (you and I) is pursuing, is according to his (God’s) will. For without an acquaintance with these three important facts, the faith of every rational being must be imperfect and unproductive; but with this understanding, it can become perfect and fruitful, abounding in righteousness unto the praise and glory of God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Joseph also said, to go where God is, we must see as he sees, speak as he speaks, and think as he thinks. Not as WE think he does those things.

In the scriptures you never find the Savior reacting to situations as we do. I have concluded that he is not defined by, nor does he react based on his emotions, desires, needs, or ideas. Nowhere does he make excuses for wayward people, ignore bad behavior, embrace wickedness, tolerate evil practices, look upon sin as a mistake, try to, appease, placate, or compromise. He does not bend, and he never “shakes hands with the devil’. Yet we, out of fear of being thought judgmental, lacking compassion, or being uncharitable define ourselves and react to situations based on our emotions, desires, needs, or ideas. Instead of putting forth the effort required for emulation we justify and rationalize our lack of effort by falling back on” ah, well God loves me, and he understands my weakness.”

We must change more than just the way we think. This world is being swept by a “spiritual pandemic” much more serious than this fake Covid-19. Mankind is suffering from a spiritual hole in their soul that they are trying to fill with “virtue signaling”. The “sheep” are selling their birthright to a deceptive shepherd, the “goats” are seeking absolution for their laziness and the “lambs” are being led to the slaughter. “Baaaa”
